Had a lot of fun dipping back into some stylised work. This is a corner of Takeshita Street in Tokyo, Japan. I've taken it and re-imagined it in a near future, lo-fi, cozy autumn kind of vibe over the last month or so.
Everything is created by me from scratch, with a couple caveats. Some use of AI to extract real world details like the stickers and graffiti etc from reference, before performing my own by hand art pass over the top to make them fit into the style I wanted to achieve, and setting them up to be used in an atlas/kitbash workflow. I used Claude to help me out with making some bespoke shaders that helped achieve things like the wind, parallax windows, and distant reflections on the skyscraper. Lots of hand painted and sculpted textures using ZBrush/Painter. Trees and foliage were made in SpeedTree, with hand painted atlases and leaves.
Always love going through the entire pipeline from start to finish, and all the challenges that come with it.
Parallax windows with per instance blinds settings
Custom wind shader set up to control intensity and direction per asset
Panning skybox and custom window shader to get panning cloud reflections in the distance skyscraper
